Telehealth Counseling aka Teletherapy and Telepsychiatry:

Although telehealth is administered online or by phone, the providers are required to be licensed in the state you are in. The following search engines allow you to find Washington State providers that have online services. You must reach out to directly to make an appointment. Therapy can be done by many licensed counselors, therapists, and psychologists. Psychiatrists are medical providers who can diagnose mental health disorders and prescribe medications to treat them. These search engines are not comprehensive and may not list all possible providers.

Telehealth Search Engines:

Psychology Today:  This search engine has options to search for a therapist or psychiatrist. The therapy search includes a few providers who have physical offices near Dayton (ex. Walla Walla), however most are Telehealth/Online/Virtual providers. Can filter by insurance, price, types of therapy offered, conditions treated, and demographic characteristics you identify with. The telepsychiatry search must use “Washington” rather than Dayton. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists

Aunt Bertha – Find Help: Searches are available for many types of services including mental health, physical health, food, housing, goods, transit, money, care, education, work, and legal help. www.auntbertha.com or www.findhelp.org

For the following searches use “Washington”, rather than “Dayton” which will not produce results:

American Psychological Association: Includes therapists practicing many techniques including CBT, ACT and more. Make sure the sidebar dropdown “Accepting New/Telehealth” checkbox is checked. Can filter by insurance, types of therapy offered, conditions treated, and demographic characteristics you identify with. https://locator.apa.org/

Zocdoc: Allows to search for a therapist/counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. You can filter using insurance, and see available appointments directly through the platform, all costs are provider specific, not associated with the booking through Zocdoc. https://www.zocdoc.com/

Online Therapy Platforms:

Although telehealth is administered online or by phone, the providers are required to be licensed in the state you are in. The following search engines allow you to find Washington State providers that have online services. You must reach out to directly to make an appointment. Therapy can be done by many licensed counselors, therapists, and psychologists. Psychiatrists are medical providers who can diagnose mental health disorders and prescribe medications to treat them. These search engines are not comprehensive and may not list all possible providers.

Different from search engines, instead these are private companies that charge a fee for direct telehealth services. There is significant variation in services provided and how they charge.
