Columbia County Health System Welcomes Dr. Michael Ettner to Dayton General Hospital

DAYTON, Wash. — Columbia County Health System is pleased to welcome Michael L. Ettner, MD, as Hospitalist at Dayton General Hospital. Dr. Ettner began serving in this role on June 1.

Dr. Ettner brings a deep background in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and family practice, with much of his career spent caring for patients in rural and community hospital settings. His experience and steady presence will be a valuable addition to the team at Dayton General Hospital.

A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Ettner completed his Family Medicine residency through UCLA/Ventura County Medical Center. He began his career as a U.S. Public Health Service physician in the Federated States of Micronesia, serving there from 1989 to 1992. Since then, he has cared for patients in hospitals and clinics across California, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.

Over the years, Dr. Ettner has held emergency medicine and hospitalist roles at several regional hospitals, including Kootenai Health, Boundary Community Hospital, Benewah Community Hospital, Trios Health, and Dayton General Hospital. His broad experience in both emergency and inpatient care makes him especially well suited to support patients who need care close to home.

Dr. Ettner’s commitment to service extends well beyond the hospital. He has participated in medical missions to Haiti since 1984 and has also served through medical missions in Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan since 2019.

Dr. Ettner and his wife, Ginny, have seven adult children. Outside of work, he enjoys fly fishing, golfing, and tackling home projects.
